Seasons in the Russian-language writing of the Udmurt poet V. Ar-Sergi
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 2- Author:
- Evgeniia V. Panteleeva
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The article is devoted to the study of the semantics of the seasons in the Russian-language poetry of the Udmurt poet and prose writer V. Ar-Sergi. The relevance of this work is caused by the fact that today artistic texts of national authors require a holistic conceptual analysis, since they are strongly influenced by Russian literature, which in turn affects their ethnocultural identity. The issue of preserving, strengthening and developing national language in the multilingual space of the Russian Federation is acute. The author undertook an analytical review of the problem on the material of the Ar-Sergi Russian-language poetry. During the study, traditional methods of literary research (quantitative, structural-semiotic, comparison and collation, method of holistic text analysis) were used. Both traditionally mythological and individual authorial realia associated with the perception of calendar natural changes are reflected in the poetic texts of Ar-Sergi. The degree of their semantic connectedness with traditional canons of Udmurt culture is determined. Comprehension of the natural passage of time is closely intertwined with the emotional and psychological plan of the works. The natural landscape axiologically becomes a theme for constant artistic reflection in the poetry of Ar-Sergi. The lexical units from the lexico-semantic group «seasons» have not only a certain temporal semantic load but also denote the internal emotional state of the lyric subject in the poetic texts of the Udmurt poet. The attention of the author is turned not only on his own worldview but also folk-mythological contexts of the whole ethnic group.

General extralinguistic factors reinforcing specific ideas about the Cheboksary regiolect of the Russian language
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 2- Author:
- Eduard V. Fomin
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The study is devoted to the study of the conditions for the formation and functioning of the Cheboksary regiolect of the Russian language, which is distinguished by a number of stable linguistic parameters. The peculiar sound of the speech of the Cheboksary people has developed under the significant substrate influence of the Chuvash language, among the speakers of which there are currently active processes of a linguistic shift in favor of Russian. The work is written in the aspect of sociolinguistics and is based on the author’s long-term observations of the self-esteem of Cheboksary residents and their assessment by visitors. The purpose of the research is to expand the understanding of extralinguistic factors that do not directly affect the specifics of the speech of Cheboksary people, but at the same time enhance the impression of it from outside observers. The article deals with non-linguistic specific features inherent in the capital of the Chuvash Republic, including geographical, climatic, anthropological, technological and other components. Their presence greatly enhances the perception of the sound of the Russian speech of the inhabitants of Cheboksary and its agglomeration as a unique phenomenon of modern Russian culture. In turn, the specific conditions that support the Cheboksary regiolect are the result of a long historical and social process, including the mass migration of the population in the past, the mixing of different ethnic groups among themselves and the formation of modern peoples in their visually fixed physical features, anthropological impact on the ecumene, etc. in relation to the territory of Chuvashia and nearby regions.

- Abstract:
- September 2020 was the 10th anniversary of the dual education system in Russia. Germany (German school) is considered to be the ancestor of dual education. Its elements can be found in the systems of professional education in many European and Asian countries [2]. Today the dual system of professional education has received worldwide recognition – it is the most widespread and recognized form of personnel training, which combines theoretical training (in our country – 40%, in Germany – 20–25%) in an educational institution and industrial training (75–80% at the enterprises). This model of training is used in specialized secondary and higher educational institutions, and is financed jointly with business, which is interested in qualified personnel, and the state. The new training system should "arm" the graduates with three main competences, behavioral and personal qualities: Decision-making skills (Soft Skills); professional qualities (Hard Skills), because unprofessionalism is ruining Russia; modern technologies (Digital Skills).

Information Potential and Representativeness of The First General Population Census Of 1897 in The Bessarab Province
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 1- Author:
- Nataliia P. Gavriliuk
- Work direction:
- Ethnography, Ethnology and Anthropology
- Abstract:
- The article is devoted to the study of the practice of preparing and conducting the First General Population Census in 1897 on the territory of the Bessarabian province. The research area was not chosen by chance and is connected with the events of today, namely the practice of determining the language of communication and functioning on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The relevance of the study is beyond doubt, since, to study the composition of the population, the dynamics of the population and national composition, the social picture of the region, primary sources and their analysis by contemporaries of the First General Census of the Russian Empire are used, which allows answering some provocative questions of modern historians and politicians. The identification of the subjects, methods and stages of the census makes it possible to clarify the specifics of this approach in relation to the Russian Empire, since the methods and technologies for conducting population censuses borrowed in Europe required revision and adjustment, taking into account the realities of the Russian Empire. One cannot but agree that the results of the census have many shortcomings, in particular, in terms of the ethnic composition of the population, social groups and categories, the language of communication, the occupations of the inhabitants of the Bessarabian province, which is explained by the very organization of the census, the lack of qualified personnel, insufficient funding, etc. d. But, at the same time, it must be taken into account that for their time these were the necessary data and indicators that subsequently made it possible to determine the policy of the central government on the ground and in particular with regard to Bessarabia – the territory of which for many years was under the control of the Ottoman Empire and around which geopolitical disputes.

Dynamics of the number of Chuvash speakers on the basis of the 2002–2021 Russian population censuses
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 1- Author:
- Ektor Alos-i-Font

- Abstract:
- The situation of the Chuvash language in the Russian Federation is presented in the light of the 2020 population census. The aim of the study is to understand whether the tempos of the language shift have changed compared to the previous decade. For the sake of comparison, the process of ethnic assimilation of the Chuvash population is also studied. The differences between the five regions with the highest concentration of Chuvash speakers are analyzed, and the position of Chuvash in Chuvashia is contrasted with the one of the official languages in the other five republics of the Volga Federal District. Research results. The analysis shows a serious deterioration in the quality of the 2020 census data compared to previous ones. This problem is partially solved by weighting them. The results show an average annual decline of about three percent of Chuvash speakers at both the Federation and Chuvashia levels throughout the 2010–2020 decade. This represents a doubling of the rate in comparison to the previous intercensal period. This degree of language shift is similar to that observed for Chuvash in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, but lower than in the Ulyanovsk and Samara regions. The other official languages of the District have drops in the number of speakers in their respective republics similar to those of Chuvash in Chuvashia, including Tatar in Tatarstan. An apparent exception is Bashkir, but the data also indicate serious issues for the languages of Bashkortostan.

The sonnet “Le vierge, le vivace et le bel aujourd’hui…” by s. Mallarmé in the translational interpretation of V. Bryusov
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 1- Author:
- Polina V. Li
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The article discusses the V. Bryusov’s translation reception of the poem by S. Mallarmé “Le vierge, le vivace et le bel aujourd’hui…”. The sonnet is an example of symbolist art, headed by S. Mallarmé in France, and first introduced to the Russian literary tradition by V. Bryusov. The analysis of the embodiment of S. Mallarmé’s poetic images in V. Bryusov’s translation is also important because both authors are renowned for their significant contribution to the world literature. S. Mallarmé created a new poetic language and was proclaimed a “prince of poets”, whereas V. Bryusov’s versatile creative work as well as publicism and translations earned him a status of the master of Russian symbolism. Currently there are more Russian translations of the sonnet “The Swan”, rather than any other language, and the very first one also belongs to V. Bryusov. The article considers the third and most well-known translation, the first to be named “The Swan”. The comparative analysis of the original text of the sonnet and its translation allows to identify the specificity of Bryusov’s perception of S. Mallarmé’s poetry and the peculiarities of the poetics of Russian symbolism.

On the Role of Public Cossack Associations in the Patriotic Education of Young People

- Work direction:
- Discussion
- Abstract:
- The purpose of writing this article is due to the decision of the problem of activating the patriotic education of young people, in particular, students of universities, on the basis of spiritual and moral principles and values of the Russian Cossacks, taking into account the participation of public Cossack associations (PCA) in the implementation of state youth policy. In the process of research methods were used: observation, conversation, modern information technology, the study of historical and normative legal documents for the drawing of the Roadmap for the development of the system of continuous Cossack education. Results. The conducted review shows that the social markers that form the basis of Cossack identity are highlighted and, in general, understood by society, associated with patriotism, love for the Motherland and the Orthodox worldview. In the process of Cossack revival the pedagogical and educational potential of Cossack culture was discovered, based on the values of democracy, on the one hand, and on the traditions of statehood, on the other. Although marked by a certain transformation of the Cossack idea in the direction of «militarization», this process does not contradict the basic principles of Cossack education, which became the basis of interaction between universities and OKO in the educational process. Conclusions. The analysis of organizational and pedagogical forms of youth upbringing with participation of modern OKOs shows by the example of the South of Russia (Krasnodar Territory, Rostov Region) that a certain stage of formation in the educational system has already been passed and represents a four-dimensional model, including the younger generation from preschoolers to students. The last stage of the model is in the formation stage, which is characterized by the creation in 2021 of the Association of Cossack universities of Russia and the signing of the Roadmaps for implementing joint, scientific, educational and social activities of universities and public Cossack associations, defining a new round of development of Cossack higher education and patriotic education of the university youth.

On the Question of the Cheboksary Shibboleth
Short CommunicationEthnic Culture Volume 4 No 3- Author:
- Eduard V. Fomin
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The work is devoted to the study of the shibboleth in the speech culture of the inhabitants of the capital of Chuvashia. A shibboleth is a word that has absorbed the specific features of a language and is used to identify people for whom this language is not native. The relevance of the study is due to the very existence of the phenomenon of shibboleth in the everyday life of the residents of Cheboksary, which has not yet been studied from the point of view of linguocheboksary. The purpose of the study is to formulate a language unit that maximally concentrates the specific features of the Russian speech of the inhabitants of the city of Cheboksary. The material of the study was the speech samples of Cheboksary residents, during the quantitative and qualitative analysis of which a shibboleth was derived in the form of an interrogative phrase “Skazhite, pozhaluysta, nasha konferencia budet zavtra?” (Tell me, please, will our conference be tomorrow?). At the same time, checking with a shibboleth involves the task of transforming the specified phrase into the Cheboksary regiolect of the Russian language. Completing the task according to the linguistic preferences prevailing in Cheboksary should lead to the invariant “Skazhite-ka, u nas konferencia zavtra budet, chto li?”. The author of the work simultaneously considers Russian shibboleths aimed at the Chuvash linguistic culture, and vice versa. In the Chuvash environment, words with a concentration of a kind of Chuvash phonetics can act as a shibboleth aimed at Russians. In turn, the reproduction of the Russian shibboleth in the Chuvash environment, due to the developed Chuvash-Russian bilingualism, practically does not present any problem in modern realities.
