Research Article

- Abstract:
- Psychologists studying emotion repeatedly noted that the meaning of the concept of «emotion» in both everyday and scientific area is characterized by insufficient coherence and fuzzy boundaries. This raises the question of whether the representations of people in everyday life include a related set of properties that characterize emotions as a class of phenomena, and whether these representations differ in non-psychologist and psychologist students. Our goal was to study the coherence of mental representations of emotions as a class of phenomena among psychologist and non-psychologist students. Participants included non-psychologist (100 male, 110 female, mean age – 19 years) and psychologist students (31 male, 159 female, mean age – 20 years). Methods used included the method of definitions, the method of associations; the coherence of the answers was estimated with frequency analysis, the method of family resemblance by E. Roche, the Pearson association coefficient, the method for calculating the indices of coherence, divergence and structure organization proposed by A.V. Karpov. The results of the study showed that non-psychologist students' answers were characterized the lower level of categorical validity, structure coherence, overall organization, established less amount of correlations then psychologist students' answers. It can be concluded that mental representations of non-psychologist students demonstrate lower coherence than psychologist students. The observed differences may be due to the fact that psychologist students learn scientific concepts of emotion as part of their education. At the same time, the answers that psychologist students give cannot be called completely coherent, which may be due to the difficulty of identifying a related set of properties that consist the meaning of the scientific concept of emotion. In conclusion are given some recommendations for the teacher aimed at increasing the level of coherence in mental representations of emotions among students.

- Abstract:
- The chapter considers the relationship of students' self-reports on the presence and overcoming of academic difficulties in the process of learning at the university with the motives of learning, self-assessment of emotional and personal well-being and academic performance. The authors' pilot questionnaire aimed at identifying students' academic difficulties and opportunities to overcome them in the educational process at the university, as well as the methods «Diagnostics of Students' Learning Motivation» (Badmaeva, 2004) and «Self-assessment of Emotional and Personal Well-being» (Karapetyan, Glotova, 2020) and self-report of students on their academic performance for the previous semesters were used. The main part of the study was conducted by an online survey in a Google-form on a sample of 75 students of different ages, genders, courses and learning profiles, 40 students participated in the additional part of the study. Data processing was carried out using correlation analysis (according to Spearman). As a result of the study, multiple significant correlations of the academic difficulties with motives of learning, academic performance and emotional and personal well-being of students were obtained; a number of differences in the correlations of academic difficulties with the motives of learning of «activity spectrum» and «social spectrum» were revealed.

- Abstract:
- The article presents the experience of teaching chemistry to foreign students of a medical university. To facilitate the understanding of educational material in chemistry by foreign students, the didactic potential of university lectures has been expanded. Every year, Russian universities accept citizens from more than 170 countries to study. The annual growth in the number of foreign students corresponds to the national course for further integration into the educational and scientific community of the allied states. The relevance of the study is determined by the need of Russian universities to develop educational and methodological materials in a foreign language for training programs for foreign students. The aim of this study is to facilitate the understanding of lecture material, and, as a result, to increase the effectiveness of teaching chemistry to foreign students of a medical university through the use of an English-language course of lectures in the learning process. Within this work, using the method of students questionnaire survey, a pedagogical study of the attitude of foreign students to the use of a course of chemistry lectures in English was carried out. The study involved 80 foreign students of Altai State Medical University, citizens of far abroad countries. It was found that the described course of lectures minimizes the difficulties of foreign students' perception of large amounts of educational material (97.5% of respondents), increases the efficiency of independent work (92.5%), helps to overcome the language barrier when teaching in an intermediary language (67.5%), as a result, there is a general interest of foreign students in chemistry as a science (95%), facilitating of educational material understanding and an increase in academic performance (96.2% of those who successfully passed the exam in chemistry compared to 60% of students in the control group). Thus, we came to the conclusion that the use of a developed English-language course of lectures in the teaching chemistry makes it easier for students to perceive the lecture material and improve the quality of chemistry education for foreign students.

- Abstract:
- There is a growing need for high-quality education that prepares students for the complex challenges of the modern world. As a result, the use of tutoring services is becoming increasingly common in the education system. However, it is necessary to study the opinions of high school students about the role of tutors and the use of their services in the educational process to determine the effectiveness of this approach. The relevance of this research lies in determining high school students' perceptions of tutors' role in the educational process. High school students are a key group of tutoring service consumers, and their opinions about tutors' role in the educational process may influence decisions about using such services. In this study, a survey method was used. The survey questions addressed students' opinions about tutors' role in the educational process, as well as their personal experience with using tutoring services. The analysis of the data showed that high school students generally have positive attitudes towards tutors and consider them important helpers in the learning process. Most of the survey participants noted positive results from using tutoring services, such as improved academic performance and confidence in their knowledge. However, some drawbacks of using tutoring services were also identified, such as high cost, mismatch of the tutor's and student's knowledge levels, and insufficient effectiveness in some cases. The use of tutoring services can be an effective tool for improving academic performance and motivation among high school students, but the drawbacks and limitations of this approach should be taken into account. The results of this study can be useful for school administrations, parents, and high school students in making decisions about using tutoring services in the educational process.

- Abstract:
- The chapter is devoted to the study of various, important, according to students, aspects and problems associated with admission to residency, and conditionally consists of two main parts – a review (performed as an introduction) and an experimental one. At the beginning of the chapter (review part), general data on the profession of a doctor are given, the most significant requirements for a medical student, which are necessary in his future work, are considered and summarized. Among the many individual aspects, the importance of having a well-developed intellect, communication skills and stress resistance is especially emphasized. Then, information is summarized on the general modern «problems» of admission to residency, which is a logical continuation of 6-year study at a university and allows you to gain knowledge in one of the «narrow» specialties. The second part of the article is presented by a scientific study, which included 200 students of the Voronezh State Medical University. N.N. Burdenko, divided into 2 groups of 100 people, depending on the course: 1 group – 3 course, 2 group – 6 course. After studying the gender and age composition of the subjects, the students were asked to answer a number of questions on a questionnaire specially developed by the authors – about overall satisfaction with the learning process at the university and its various aspects, including lectures, practical classes, readiness to continue studying in residency, etc. Then the level of stress of students of both groups was studied and analyzed – in the normal state, during the examination session and when discussing / thinking about entering the residency. The final, but most significant part of the study was the identification and subsequent study of the most important aspects / problems of a social and psychological nature that affect admission to residency, according to students. The determination of these points was carried out by the ranking method. The results obtained indicated the existence of an acute problem of admission to residency and may be of interest to all higher school teachers involved in the educational process of a medical university.

- Abstract:
- One of the manifestations of subjectivity of university students is their involvement in learning, actively studied in foreign and in Russian pedagogy, psychology and sociology of education. Various components of involvement in learning are distinguished, among which there is a motivational component. The purpose of the study was a comparative analysis of two methods for measuring the motivation of learning, based on different theoretical approaches, as well as an analysis of the relationship between academic performance as an effective component of involvement in learning and the motivational component of involvement measured by two different tools. The methods «Diagnostics of the motivation of students' learning» (Badmaeva, 2004), «Scales of academic motivation» (Gordeeva, Sychev, Osin, 2014) were used. In addition, students gave information on academic performance for past semesters. The study, conducted by an online survey in Google form, involved 115 university students aged 18–25 years. Correlation analysis (according to Spearman) and factor analysis were used in the data processing. As a result of the study, multiple significant correlations between scales of motives of the learning of two methods were obtained; in factor analysis, the scales were evenly distributed between the two factors; it was revealed that in each of the methods there are scales significantly correlating with the academic performance of students as an effective component of their involvement in learning; the motives of the learning are considered in relation to the types of activities of students, within which the actions of the learning are implemented.

- Abstract:
- Among school graduates, an increased result in secondary vocational education and a decrease in interest in higher education became noticeable. This article discusses options for obtaining vocational education after graduation, puts forward hypotheses that explain the increased interest in obtaining secondary vocational education, in particular, the problem of increased fear of the unified state exam among applicants and their parents and their desire to «get around» it is studied. The article indicates the increased interest in the system of continuous education in general and in the city of Novokuznetsk in particular. To confirm the hypotheses put forward, a study was conducted in which 167 first-year students of the University College of the Siberian State Industrial University took part. The students were asked about their motives for entering the University College after the 9th grade, and about the reasons for entering the University College of the Siberian State Industrial University specifically. After analyzing the results, it was concluded that the hypotheses put forward were confirmed, and the main reason for the refusal of high school students to continue their studies at school in grades 10–11 in favor of obtaining a secondary vocational education was determined. The article notes that every year the number of those wishing to receive a secondary education at the Siberian State Industrial University will grow, therefore, the number of specialties and places for study should be expanded.

- Abstract:
- The chapter is devoted to an attempt to analyze the effectiveness of the introduction of digital technologies in the educational process of a medical university. This topic is very relevant, in view of the fact that at present the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 is still ongoing in the Russian Federation and around the world. Having started locally in China, in a short time the epidemic was able to grow to the size of a pandemic, «swallowing» almost all countries of the world. The governments of the countries began to develop and then implement various innovative methods of combating the unfavorable epidemic situation. One of these aspects was the transfer of the entire educational process to a distance channel. However, the «first wave» of the pandemic was followed by the «second», then the «third», and so on. The educational process has been «stuck» in a remote format for a long time. At present, for many teachers of higher education and scientific researchers, it has become of interest to analyze the effectiveness of the use of modern digital technologies in the educational process, which was the purpose of this work. The objects of the study were 400 people, divided into 2 groups of 200. Group 1 included 200 students of the 3rd and 6th year, divided into 100 people, depending on the course of study. Group 2 included resident doctors, divided into subgroups depending on the profile of training (therapy or surgery). The study was based on an anonymous survey, the task of which was to determine the general attitude to distance and classical education, to identify all the negative and controversial aspects of distance learning, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of distance learning itself and its effectiveness and expediency during an unfavorable epidemic situation. At the final stage, the subjects were asked to evaluate the prospect of introducing digital learning elements into its traditional format. The data obtained are of great interest to teachers of the higher school of a medical university, students and residents involved in the educational process.
