Transformation of physical education in higher education for the formation of environmental responsibility and commitment to a healthy lifestyle
Book Chapter
Modern issues of pedagogy and psychology: theoretical and methodological approaches and practical re-search results- Author:
- Ekaterina G. Saiganova
- Work direction:
- Глава 8
- Abstract:
- This chapter examines the transformation of the physical education system in higher education in the context of global sustainable development goals and national priorities of the Russian Federation. It notes the limitations of traditional models of physical education classes, which are primarily implemented indoors and do not utilize the potential of interaction with the natural environment to develop students' environmental awareness. The aim of the study is to theoretically substantiate and empirically test the effectiveness of an innovative model of physical education that integrates the principles of sustainable development. The author's model shifts emphasis from a normative approach to the development of a holistic, environmentally oriented worldview, where concern for personal health is inextricably linked with concern for the environment. The methodological framework consists of an analysis of modern pedagogical approaches (the concept of «green» education, the theory of cumulative environmental risks, research on the ecological self-concept of individuals) and data from cross-sectional studies. The study involved 210 first- and second-year students, divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental group participated in a semester-long program developed by the author, which included regular outdoor training sessions (outdoor training differentiated by environmental conditions), theoretical lectures on the impact of environmental factors on health, and campus improvement projects. The results showed statistically significant improvements in physical fitness (endurance +14.3%, speed-strength +11.8%), mental well-being (+15.2%), and a significant increase in environmental responsibility (+40.7%). A direct correlation was found between program participation and commitment to a healthy lifestyle (r=0.782). A block model for transforming physical education is proposed, including target-based, content-based, organizational-activity-based, and evaluative-performance components. The practical significance of the work lies in the development of scientifically based recommendations for the implementation of adaptive, environmentally oriented physical education programs in the curricula of universities, which contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good health and well-being; SDG 4: Quality education; SDG 13: Climate action) and the implementation of the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation.

Key aspects of digital literacy development among future physical education teachers

Modern issues of pedagogy and psychology: theoretical and methodological approaches and practical re-search results- Author:

- Abstract:
- The chapter discusses the current problem of digital transformation of the higher physical education system. The author substantiates the need to review approaches to the training of future physical education teachers who, in their professional activities, face a generation of students who grew up in a digital environment. There is a contradiction between the need of educational organizations for teachers who possess modern information and communication technologies, and the lack of development of methods for the formation of such competencies in universities. The chapter analyzes in detail the pedagogical conditions necessary for the successful integration of digital skills into the educational process: the introduction of a digital component in specialized disciplines, the creation of a modern material and technical base, improving the digital skills of teaching staff, as well as strengthening the practical orientation of learning through pedagogical practice and the use of gamification methods. Special attention is paid to the ethical and legal aspects of working with students' personal data and the formation of future teachers' attitudes towards continuous self-education in conditions of rapid technology obsolescence. In conclusion, it is concluded that the formation of digital competencies is a complex, multifaceted task that requires an integrated approach. The implementation of the described conditions will make it possible to train in-demand specialists who are able to effectively interact with students of the "digital generation" and use modern technologies to increase motivation, motor density of lessons and general health promotion of the younger generation.

- Abstract:
- This paper provides a retrospective analysis of physical education, health improvement, and sports activities in a rural secondary school over a period of thirty-six years. It demonstrates the continuity of one of the main activities in the school from one physical education teacher to another, without compromising the quality of physical education for students and maintaining a high level of academic, extracurricular, and after-school activities. It has been shown that in rural areas with underdeveloped infrastructure and long distances from the city, physical education and health activities at a secondary school are a factor that not only contributes to the preservation, improvement of health, and socialization of the younger generation, but also to the development of the village. This chapter provides a description of the practice of introducing physical education and health activities in the rural Novo-Dmitrievskaya Secondary School in the Radishchevsky District of the Ulyanovsk Region, covering the period from 1963 to 2009, and the impact of physical education and health activities on the socialization of students, their physical fitness, and their athletic performance.

- Abstract:
- The chapter examines psychological and pedagogical conditions for personality development of students in a children’s music school within the context of musical activity. The paper presents the results of a longitudinal study conducted on a sample of students enrolled in pre-professional music programs at a children’s music school. The study employed methods aimed at identifying motivational tendencies, anxiety level, self-esteem, attitudes toward learning, and value orientations. The findings show that musically gifted children maintain a positive attitude toward music studies throughout the learning process, while cognitive and educational-professional motivation remains pronounced; adequate self-esteem and generally favorable anxiety dynamics are also observed. It is demonstrated that the most important conditions for personality development are a supportive music-educational environment, trusting teacher-student relationships, and family support. The authors conclude that the combination of these conditions contributes not only to the development of musical abilities, but also to the formation of the child’s personality, especially during the transition from primary school age to adolescence.

- Modern medical education is focused on the formation of students' stable professional competencies that ensure readiness for clinical activities. One of the key problems remains the gap between theoretical training and practical skills, due to the fragmentation of academic disciplines and the predominance of a subject-centered learning model. The purpose of this article is to substantiate and describe a methodological and analytical model of interdisciplinary educational modules as a tool for integrating theory and practice in the pre-graduate training of medical university students. The theoretical foundations of interdisciplinary and integrated learning, including PBL methods and simulation training, are considered effective for the development of clinical thinking and practical skills. A structural model of the interdisciplinary module is presented and an example of its implementation based on the clinical topic "Patient with chest pain" is shown. - This article examines the pressing issue of transforming interactions between families and preschool educational institutions in the context of digitalization and social uncertainty. The authors explore the phenomenon of increasing parental control and resource constraints in modern families, which conflict with growing demands on adult educational competence. The study focuses on the methodological gap between the current challenges of "late modernity" and traditional asymmetrical models of informing parents, which fail to adequately coordinate educational strategies. The study utilizes conceptual modeling, narrative-integrative review, and content analysis of scientific sources. Systems, activity-based, and resource-based approaches were employed to synthesize theoretical data into a unified structural and functional model. Particular attention is given to the method of theoretical synthesis for classifying family resources: material, human, social, temporal, information-digital, and

- The article examines the traumatic experience of an individual in an educational environment as a systemic phenomenon that arises at the intersection of individual vulnerabilities, interpersonal interactions, and institutional practices of an educational institution. The educational environment is analyzed as a set of norms, relationships, communications, and digital channels that can both support personal development and exacerbate chronic stress and re-traumatization. The article explores the main sources of trauma and their psychological consequences. Special attention is given to the multi-level system of psychological assistance, which includes prevention, early detection, counseling, and crisis intervention. It has been shown that, with psychological safety, social support, and appropriate educational practices, the educational environment can become a space for not only recovery, but also post-traumatic personal growth.

- This article examines the age-related dynamics of academic motivation in students aged 10–17 in a modern school setting. The relevance of the study stems from the persistent decline in academic motivation during basic general education, despite the recognition of academic motivation as a key factor in success and personal development. The aim of the study was to identify characteristics and statistically significant differences in the structure of academic motivation among students at three levels of general education: primary (10–11 years old), middle (12–15 years old), and high school (16–17 years old). Ninety-nine students participated in the study. For diagnostics, the method of studying educational motivation by A.K. Makarova and N.V. - At the present stage, the level of environmental education of high school students determines not only public well-being, but also the future of the global scale. It is no coincidence that educational standards at all levels of education pay special attention to the environmental education of the younger generation. On the one hand, the problems of environmental education have been well studied, but on the other hand, there is no model that creates a holistic view of the environmental education of senior schoolchildren in a particular school and affects the motivational sphere as a socio-psychological mirror. The purpose of the study is to develop a structural and functional model of environmental education of senior schoolchildren. The methodological basis is the motivational program-target approach of I. K. Shalaev. In the development of the model, the expert assessment method was used.
