- Abstract:
- The Great Patriotic War is one of the most tragic events in the history of our country. Each region of the country contributed to achieving victory over the enemy, and the Siberian north – Yugra – was no exception. Despite their remoteness and extreme climatic conditions, representatives of the region bravely joined the ranks of the Red Army. During the war years, 17,890 conscripts left the territory of the Khanty-Mansi National Okrug to go to the front, including more than five hundred representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North: Khanty, Mansi, Nenets.тDuring the Great Patriotic War, the district became an important element in the logistical support of the active army. A school for training military and medical personnel has been launched in Ugra. Fishermen worked all year round to supply the army with canned food. Wood was used to make blanks for butts, skis, and shell boxes; In addition, they produced aircraft plywood, pontoon beams, and matches. The district successfully handled fur harvesting. The workers of the North used their personal savings to build combat vehicles. They contributed money, bonds, gold and silver items to the country's defense fund. Front-line soldiers and home front workers made a significant contribution to the common cause of victory over fascism.
