- The chapter discusses the concept of sustainable development, as well as the main aspects of sustainable urban development. Particular attention is paid to cities with high scientific and technological potential. The development indicators of several Russian cities with high scientific and technical potential (science cities: Biysk, Michurinsk, Obninsk) were analyzed, their problems and development prospects were identified.
